ABOUT US

Page Element - Triangle
"Thrash and Death Metal, full of melody, technique and soul, leaving many international bands envious! Imagine a Krisiun, not so fast, influenced by Sarcofago and Carcass."

- Roadie Crew Magazine -

Hammurabi is a band from Belo Horizonte, MG, which is part of the third generation of a group of bands that changed the status quo of heavy music worldwide, such as Sepultura, Sarcofago, The Mist, Chakal, Sextrash, Holocausto, among others.

This scenario led to the emergence of bands that mix all these influences and Hammurabi, in the mid-2000s, became this exponent, being one of the most representative bands in the city, culminating in the signing of a contract with Cogumelo Records, international distribution via Relapse Records and participation in major events alongside great icons of world and Brazilian metal such as Sodom, Dark Funeral, Vader, Ragnarok, Krisiun, Almah, Onslaught, Torture Squad, Nervochaos, among others.

Their releases include the EPs Shelter of Blames (2008), The Extinction Root (2010) and LAW (2018), as well as several singles and a live bootleg, Burning in CuiabĂĄ (2012), recorded during a tour of Brazil with almost 50 shows throughout the country. Among the singles, the highlights are The Emperor Returns to the Front (2015), already with a new line-up - since the band's effective move to SĂŁo Paulo - and the more than special participation of the legendary Korzus bassist, Dick Siebert, both in the recordings and in its music video.

MMXXI, reached fans' ears on September 7, 2021, and celebrates not only the band's 15th anniversary but also, doing justice to all the band's releases - which explore social, economic and political problems in their lyrics - this single also brings all the fury of a musician invariably bothered and in tune with the discrepancies and inequalities arising from a typical country on the periphery of capitalism. Composed, recorded and finished in his home studio, Daniel Lugondi brings a mix of melancholy and anger to a song that evokes the panorama of the pandemic in Brazil, even using powerful quotes from Simone de Beauvoir and Paulo Freire to criticize a class system that deprived the great masses of rights in the absence of the richest and most powerful.

Last but not least, their most recent release is the live album Let the Sinos River Valley Ablaze, recorded during the Ablaze Metal Fest festival - the largest in the south of the country - which, in addition to names like Ratos de Porão and Tropas de Doom, had Hammurabi closing the first day of the event. This was an album that was not planned, but it was certainly an incredible opportunity to celebrate the band's first visit to the extreme south of Brazil.

In 2024, we will reach 18 years of band and, of course, the release of another album: Numbers!
