Fools - Revisited

Last but not least!

Last year, I decided to revisit a bit of Hammurabi's history. Let's see, this year, 2025, we're already completing 15 years since the release of Extinction Root - Cogumelo Records (BRA) / Relapse Records (USA) - and specifically, after following the releases of the Cavalera brothers, I thought I could do something of the sort and, based on the same thought - of using more recent technologies - and also imagining that we could execute some things much better than at the time, that's what also prompted me to revisit this song.

Like Sepultura, in the beginning (and we've heard many stories... lol), we worked a lot based on will and perseverance, less on talent, and mastery of instruments and techniques; but you know that this is crucial to achieving your dreams. After all, we've followed much of their path and, despite the different results, we're very proud of our trajectory. Next year will be 20 years of Hammurabi!

It may seem a bit far-fetched, I know. Months before, we had released the album Numbers, a partnership between this writer and a friend who lives on the other side of the ocean and has influences that were not so commonly used in the work of that time. Fools is a song that I wrote entirely, including the direction of the other instruments, as well as the arrangements and the lyrics.

Let's remember that, when we released our EP in 2007, I was still the band's bassist, but I was always the main composer. This fact is relevant because it was precisely. After all, we had two other guitarists and had to make room for their performance and participation some things may not have sounded exactly as intended, but so what? So this blog doesn't even foresee a large audience or even an exchange of information, but after almost 20 years it has become a great memorabilia, a space for those who are interested in learning more about the work, which continues, around the precepts that established Hammurabi as an iconic and respected band in the Brazilian underground.
